The “Dear Santa” project started last 13th December 2012, when ten Christmas cards were posted to the ten most amazing advertising agencies in London: SAATCHI & SAATCHI, LEO BURNETT, OGILVY, TBWA, MCCANN, JWT, WIEDEN+KENNEDY, ADAM&EVE DDB, AMV BBDO and MOTHER LONDON UK.
This way ten Heads of Design became my personal Santa Claus: if they liked my project, they might want to meet me and give me the opportunity to be part of their successful creative teams. All I want for Christmas was this.
The aim of this lateral thinking project was firstly to show my main strength: I´m a multi-tasking creative designer with a “can-do” attitude. After a brain storming, I came up with this alternative way to get in touch with the agencies, and I did it. Secondly, I designed the key element helped by some Adobe family members. Using my “secret tools” (pencil, rubber, rule, scissors and cutter) I could finally say Look! It’s moving. It’s alive. It’s alive… My next achievement was translating the project into digital, so I created a motion graphics video to explain the whole process. Finally Dear Santa was uploaded to this online portfolio and it has been linked with my social network profiles (Facebook, Twitter and Vimeo).
If you would like to have a look into the letter, you are welcome to have a look below:
It has been a long time since my last letter – Ok, I´ll come clean, I was persuaded you did not exist -, but this year I thought I would write to you to see if you could help.
The thing is, what I would really love this Xmas is a creative job in a great advertising agency. I know this is not your style – you do sledge and chimney and all that-. But if you think of it, you give people what they have been dreaming of for a long time.
I know how busy you are these days, but please remember my wish of being part of a creative team in an amazing advertising agency like “xxx”. I hope this home-made card makes you and “xxx” wants to know more about me.
Thank you so much for letting my wishes keep alive.
